Sound:
Thick textural ambiance and magical orgasmic rhythm is what one said. It is a beautiful conglomeration of DUB, downtempo, jungle and DNB, jazz and psycedelic jamming, with an emphasis on breaks, thumping bass and state of the NOW sampling. There are elements of all music, hence the name.
Show:
Elemental Harmonics is a four piece ensemble from Atlanta, Georgia performing a innovative new style of live instrumental music. The band creates sound-scapes and grooves through the seamless integration of pre-sequenced parts, dynamically controlled live-sequencing, and the more traditional playing of the instruments. With three multi-instrumentalists, three computers, and one airtight phenom on the drum kit, the sound can be as thick or as sparse as our imaginations can produce. The band draws inspiration from the roots of dub, drum and bass, raga, funk, jungle, hip-hop, jazz, and mixes these elements with computer generated sounds, sample banks, and harmonic textures. Rather than relying on solos to build intensity, the band crafts their dynamics as one telepathic unit.
Equipment:
Alex Ginzburg plays a PRS hollowbody guitar a slew of pedals including two Boss Loop Stations and Fender amp, as well as a PowerBook G4 with Ableton Live and Reason with the Ozonic MIDI Controller.
Paul Knight plays a Schecter 5-string bass with active electronics through a Boomerang Phrase Sampler and a Gallien Kreuger head and SWR speakers, as well as an iBook G4 with Reason/Ableton and Evolution MIDI controller.
Eric Laufer plays LP percussion and a rare (1 in 50) MIDI controlling system made with radio batons and antenna, this is for triggering sounds from his Sony VAIO laptop running Reaktor and other soft synths as well as triggering a Roland V-Drum module.
Daniel McBrearity plays a Pearl drum kit equipped with Roland V-Drum pads triggering an Alesis drum module.
